Hatchments Collections in Churches

Hatchments and other paintings in Churches

Small and large collections of paintings – often hatchments and Royal coats of arms – in Churches present many conservation challenges.
Determined groups of parishioners are key to driving forward such projects, often by obtaining National Lottery funding that also broadens out projects to provide interest and involvement for the local community.
This studio has written full reports for Faculty applications, managed the removal of paintings from the walls, liaised with Church architects, builders and wall painting conservators.
We are experienced in the cleaning, conservation and restoration and reinstatement of paintings in Churches.
